I organized farmers' markets in L.A. in the 90s after growing up in the City, then came back a chef and city planner, known for combining food and art with public spaces; also organized conferences for the California Studies Association at Cal Geography. My graduate work in historiography makes me keen to notice such themes as the role that the inherent bias of our acculturation plays in which narratives we choose and how we frame and color dialog as fiction writers and journalists/academic writers alike. I am consistently irked that I keep not getting that pony for Christmas I was led to believe I'd get someday in the form of American Dream version SFC.oh! I am sorta keeping my love for the game by choosing work that fits, not letting the selling of food and cultural experiences corrupt them too much, as I strive to keep myself at distance from forces trying to commercialize all of my interactions as transactions. I sing less than I'd like to, too, so I'm getting in early and big on some quick and easy new year's resolutions (or getting around to it late if you like I l'shanatovah'd a few weeks back during the Jewish lunar confabulation), like "I'm gonna sing more, dammit!" Also, "I'm gonna get out to where literate folks hang with other such folk and hear words put together good."
